As a Toronto-based social worker and psychotherapist I have practiced in a variety of settings for more than 15 years. I started out working with hard-to-serve youth, in youth corrections, both outpatient as well as inside a correctional institution. I quickly realized that underneath the acting-out behaviours, these youth struggled with the impact of trauma. This led me to my next chapter, working in a specialized outpatient clinic with children and teens who had been sexually abused in their families and teens who had sexually offended, providing assessment and treatment. Following this chapter, I moved to working primarily with adults, providing trauma-informed psychotherapy. I have also been an intersession lecturer at McMaster University teaching CBT and Mindfulness to undergraduate students, and have been supervising graduate-level students (MSW and MACP) completing their clinical internships for the past 7 years. I have additional training in mindfulness, CBT as well as trauma-based approaches such as EMDR.
Over the course of the years of my practice as a psychotherapist, and in my personal life, I have come to witness the great healing capacity of self-compassion, as it helps us to safely face all the parts of our experiences, even those painful parts we may have been avoiding or suppressing for some time.
My personal experiences with addiction and recovery, intensive meditation training, blended family-life, and psychotherapy help me appreciate the critical role a safe therapeutic environment plays in helping people effectively encounter the emotions and long-standing narratives keeping them stuck in disempowering cycles of behaviour and thought.
I have found that by helping clients build a deeper awareness of their mind-body connection, they develop greater self-regulation, a healthier sense of self and more satisfying interpersonal relationships. While I help clients connect with their present-moment experience, my approach is very much trauma-informed and psychodynamic. I seek to provide you with the room you need to explore how your past may be impacting, or even overwhelming your present.
I am a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). After receiving my MA in journalism, I worked in corporate and non-profit communications for 10 years before returning to complete a master’s in counselling psychology for a second career as a psychotherapist. I have also served in the military. I am married with four teenage and young adult step-kids, and a toddler.
Although many of us struggle to acknowledge the need for help, I believe we are all healing from something and can use a helping hand. I provide a safe space for individuals to freely express themselves without judgement, with the belief that expressing vulnerability is a courageous act. Insight into the root of your struggles not only enlightens, but also empowers, enabling you to become the best version of yourself.
Using a combination of psychodynamic modalities and CBT, my approach is honest, sensitive, and direct; I guide clients towards embracing the present while exploring the past. I have training and front-line counselling experience at an emergency mental health hospital, where I have supported individuals struggling with mental illness and addiction, crisis, and the impacts of trauma. As a child of an immigrant parent, I appreciate the unique challenges people from hybrid backgrounds face, both within their families and in the greater society. I offer therapy in English and Spanish.
I hold an Honours BA in psychology from York University and an MA in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO). Although the road to recovery is not an easy one, I am here to support you in your journey towards discovering your peace of mind.

I believe therapy offers a unique opportunity to slow down and listen to the parts of ourselves we’ve silenced, the patterns that no longer serve us, and the resilience we may not yet recognize. My approach is rooted in compassion, curiosity, and a sincere respect for each person’s journey. I strive to create an environment where you can explore the challenges you’re facing and begin to reconnect with your strengths, values, and sense of possibility.
I draw from person-centred, trauma-informed, and mindfulness-based approaches, along with elements of cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) and solution-focused therapy. I’m especially interested in how our stories, both personal and cultural, shape how we experience the world and ourselves, and how therapy can help us reimagine those stories with greater self-compassion and agency.
Before beginning my training as a therapist, I spent over two decades working closely with children, youth, and families as a music educator. This work taught me how to hold meaningful conversations during times of growth and transformation and inspired my shift into psychotherapy. As a second-generation Canadian, I also bring an awareness of the complex ways culture, identity, and belonging influence our emotional lives.
I am currently completing a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University.
